Intro

Hello there! Welcome to my personal space where you can get to know me better.

My name is Atishna Samantaray and I am currently pursuing my Master's in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). I am specialising in Medical Imaging.

As a part of my Master's program at UCSD, I've engaged in diverse projects, all driven by a common goal — to contribute positively to societal betterment. I have been working on various projects related to computer vision, Machine learning, Image Processing and their application in the domain of Health and Medical sciences. Currently, I am exploring and working on topics such as Generative AI, transformers and Attention models.

I possess a diverse skill encompassing Python, C, C++, MATLAB, CUDA, R and Java.I specialize in Computer Vision and Image Processing, and I am open to venturing into new areas of knowledge, firmly believing in knowledge is Power. Presently, I am captivated by the realms of surgical robotics and Human Attention models.

Work

I have been working as a Graduate Student Researcher at Boolean Lab at University of California, San Diego under the Computer Science and Engineering Department. I have been focussing on using Machine Learning and Computer Vision algorithms along with Boolean Analysis framework to identify biomarkers for different cancers, including Colorectal and Prostate cancer. Simultaneously, I heve been immersed in the development of a Super-resolution algorithm using Generative Adversarial Networks for histopathological images, aiming to enhance the ease and precision of their analysis. Additionally, I have taken part in 2023 ACM/IEEE TinyML Design Contest at ICCAD where me along with my team has implemented machine learning algorithms that can discriminate life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias from IEGM recordings on low-end microprocessors. Currently my work focusses on AI-based modelling of Macrophages.

Before joining UCSD, I was pursuing my undergraduate degree from Indian Institute of Enginnering, Science and Technology, IIEST Shibpur, a top ranked Institute of India in the domain of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. I was the first ranked sstudent of my class and received the departmental Gold Medal for my acheivements. Apart from academics, I was the General secretary of the robotics club of my college, which involved hosting various competitions and participating in various inter-college competitions. During my undergraduate I have interned at Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore and Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur which I believe as pivotal in shaping and solidifying my research interests.

About

Beyond the realm of research and work, I find joy in immersing myself in nature and bonding with animals. Meet Simba, my adorable dog back in India(check out the picture)! I miss him,wish I could bring him here with me :) Whether it's the therapeutic embrace of swimming, the exhilaration of badminton (I was a state-level player during my school days), or capturing the beauty of the natural world through photography—each passion adds a unique touch to my life.
